Sexual abuse of children is one of the worst forms of exploitation. It may sound horrific but it is the most common phenomenon globally. A global survey by UN reveals that every third child has experienced some or other form of sexual abuse and every 10th child has been a victim of severing crime like rape or incest. The rampant occurrence of sexual abuse of children is due to many reasons, but the most important is the disbelief and ignorance by adults. There are large numbers of people out there not ready to believe that a child can be a victim of sexual abuse and in most cases from the people that they know.
Social stigma and cultural taboo prevent people from reporting cases of abuse. This makes abusers go without punishment. Despite having a stringent law the silence and negligence of adults adversely impact the action against sexual abuse of children.
